Megumi Yamashita

I am a journalist, writer and translator. I was born in Japan and spent some of my childhood in India. After school I studied history at Rikkyo University with an idea to becoming an archaeologist. On graduation, however, I began working as a designer in Tokyo. I continued in this work for eight years. Then in 1993, I moved to the U.K. to study design at Kent Institute of Art & Design, and then at University College London to study for MA in Museum Studies. During this time my interest in architecture grew, and I started visiting many buildings in Europe, USA, India and Japan. I have now been writing about architecture and design for various magazines, including Casa Brutus and Brutus in Japan for over fifteen years. I have also been writing my own books in English and Japanese, and translating for books and other media.
